This antique tape measure is functional but fragile. It is a 25' metal and cloth tape measure. There is a rip on the end of the cloth so you must be careful not to wind it too far or the tape will disappear into the mechanism. 
There are plenty of dings on the surface which gives it a stunning patina. This is an awesome piece for a display cabinet in a sewing room.
