This is a vibrant Tomato Orange to reddish Italian Florentine tray from approximately the 1950s or 1960s. It is a painted wood material and reminds me of the renaissance. 
This tray is a perfect place to display perfumes, makeup, remote controls or cell phones. We use one to hold our keys and more recently as a mail tray.
Condition is Good.
